The immersive, educational event signals Daikin’s commitment to developing the future talent of the HVAC industry
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - January 14, 2019
Today at AHR Expo in Atlanta, Daikin will host an exclusive event for engineering and technical trade students who represent the future of the HVAC industry. Select students will join Daikin to discuss exciting, meaningful careers in an industry primed for change over the next decade.
“Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability and globalization are forcing exponential change in our industry,” said Bryan Plowman, Vice President of human resources at Daikin Applied Americas. “On top of that, over a million Boomers reach retirement age each year. We’re on a quest to attract new talent to the diverse career opportunity in our industry.”
Daikin’s AHR Expo “Future of HVAC” student event is both a technology and a workplace talent event. Product managers will explain their roles in developing Daikin technology and equipment, and demonstrate the company’s recent technical advancements on the show floor for the students. Participants will also learn about how more advanced equipment is revolutionizing the industry and transforming the types of skills HVAC manufacturers need in their workforce. Daikin leadership, HR, product managers and employees who are recent graduates will emphasize how today’s challenges in HVAC are tomorrow’s opportunities.
Daikin Applied is hosting the special event to emphasize its commitment to people-centered management. The approach is rooted in the belief that a company’s people have unlimited potential to help the business grow, alongside the growth of its employees.
“This industry is ripe with opportunity for the incoming workforce,” said Kirk Thorne, Executive Vice President of sales, marketing and aftermarket, Daikin Applied Americas. “Daikin has been a global leader in HVAC innovation for many years. Emerging transformation will create more interesting opportunities for our business than we’ve seen in the last 30 years. We want young professionals to know a career with us is an opportunity to uncover and bring-to-market the next major innovation in HVAC.”
For example, as demand for cloud-based controls and HVAC tools that enable data-driven decision-making grows, students, graduates and professionals trained and skilled in automation, engineering, data and analysis have a new opportunity to leave their mark on next-generation products and technologies.
Daikin team members, many of whom are recent graduates themselves, will guide student participants through the event and demonstrate the solutions they have helped bring to market. Student participants will also meet with human resource representatives to present resumes, hear about current job openings, entry-level apprenticeships, training programs and other professional development opportunities at Daikin.
