Virginia Congressman Ben Cline Visits Daikin Applied's Verona Facility to Learn About Business Strategy and Local Operations

STAUNTON, VA - March 4, 2019

Today, Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06) visited Daikin Applied’s manufacturing facility in Verona, Virginia, the site where Daikin builds its industry-leading chillers for its large HVAC installations in North America.

Congressman Cline toured the facility and plant leadership presented Daikin Applied’s business strategy in North America, its approach to HVAC equipment design and production and its commitment to product innovation as a global leader in developing next-generation HVAC equipment.

“Representing businesses with operations in Virginia’s 6th Congressional District is an honor,” said Congressman Ben Cline. “Daikin is supporting positive economic growth, and I’m confident the company will continue to help define Virginia’s reputation for excellence in manufacturing.”

Congressman Cline learned about opportunities and challenges facing U.S. manufacturers, including recruitment of the next-generation workforce.

“Our world-class manufacturing process is possible because of the people at this facility who continue to uphold our high standards and deliver best-in-class commercial HVAC equipment to our customers,” said Bill Dietrich, product general manager for the chillers produced at this plant. “We’re pleased to have an opportunity to meet with the Congressman to learn more about his efforts to support business in our community and we look forward to continuing a positive dialogue moving forward.”

In addition to producing commercial HVAC equipment for some of Daikin’s most prominent customers in North America, in 2018 the Verona facility was recognized by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality for its commitment to workplace safety.  The Daikin plant employs over 500 employees in hourly production or salaried roles.

Congressman Ben Cline was elected in November 2018 to represent the Sixth District of Virginia. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. An attorney, Cline lives in Rockbridge County with his wife Elizabeth and twin daughters.
